With Fabric Failover, the intelligent network provides the server adapter with a virtual cable that can be quickly and automatically moved from one upstream switch to another. When using VMware vSphere using these virtual adapters eliminates the need to use the VMware virtual switches, the virtual adapters can be assigned directly to a virtual machine.

In this way the network administrator can manage the entire network stack again from endpoint to endpoint.
